DIS provides free advanced-level computer training for visually impaired students and distributes laptops to support their education and skill development. Each year, laptops are provided to 10 students in two phases.
Students who achieve 90% marks in the training are offered employment opportunities within DIS, while those scoring 80% are provided with a six-month internship opportunity.
a. DIS provides training on the use of Android smartphones for visually impaired individuals. Visually impaired students studying in schools, colleges, and universities across Bangladesh are eligible to participate. After completing the training, participants receive a smartphone free of cost.
b. Talented visually impaired students studying at the University of Chittagong receive mobile phones once a year as assistive learning devices.
DIS organizes Braille Qur’an training programs twice a year for visually impaired students (both male and female). These sessions are regularly conducted at the DIS Dhaka office. Additionally, Braille Qur’an training is arranged for visually impaired students at the University of Chittagong and Jahangirnagar University.
During the training, participants are provided with Braille Qaida and Ampara. Students who achieve excellent results are awarded a complete Braille Qur’an as a prize.
a. Blind Cricket Training and Tournaments
DIS organizes annual blind cricket training programs for visually impaired individuals. Regular cricket matches are held across different units of the country, followed by prize distribution.
In 2026, a cricket match between Louis Braille XI and Helm Killer XI, organized by the Dhaka College Unit, was attended by the Principal of Dhaka College and the President of DIS, who distributed prizes among the winners.
b. Artistic and Creative Activities
Visually impaired individuals play an active role in cultural and creative fields. DIS organizes a music-based reality show titled “VIP Idol” on its YouTube channel, exclusively for visually impaired participants. The winner receives a cash prize of BDT 50,000.
c. Recreational Tours and Trips
To promote mental well-being and recreation, DIS organizes annual trips for visually impaired individuals. These include visits to places such as Mona Bay Water Park, Dream Holiday, Suvarnagram, Fantasy Kingdom, and Nandan Amusement Park.
DIS arranges sewing training programs for underprivileged individuals throughout the year in different districts. After completing the training, participants receive sewing machines so they can become self-reliant and earn a livelihood.
According to records, a total of 30 sewing machines have been distributed among women in the Geneva Camp area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka, enabling them to earn income through tailoring and handicraft work.
DIS believes that a skilled and opportunity-driven individual can perform assigned responsibilities effectively. As English is considered an international language, proficiency in English significantly enhances professional success. With this in mind, DIS offers courses on Organizational Behaviour and Spoken English for college and university students to support their skill development.
DIS provides monthly and one-time annual scholarships to persons with disabilities and financially disadvantaged students to help them continue their education. The organization also offers coaching support for students seeking university admission and fully covers admission and tuition fees when necessary.

With this belief, DIS provides food stamps as financial assistance to both disabled and non-disabled breastfeeding mothers, helping them maintain proper nutrition and good health.
DIS offers training in content creation and YouTubing, enabling participants to use mobile phones to create vlogs. Through vlogging, participants can generate income and build a sustainable career in digital media.
